Out of the Shadows is a charity anthology in aid of Mulligan’s Manor, an independent, non-profit home that lovingly embraces its young, at-risk, LGBTQ+ residents that have been abused, neglected, or displaced. Offering hope, guidance, education, and structure is just the beginning of what Mulligan’s Manor offers these kids and why they are the benefactor of this heartfelt collection.

Out of the Shadows contains drabbles (100-word stories) from some of the most talented actors, writers, film directors, and producers in the horror community, including Nicholas Vince (Hellraiser), Debbie Rochon (Killer Rack), Cortney Palm (Zombeavers), Adam Marcus (Jason Goes to Hell), and many, many more.

JAWS: Peter Benchley's Influence & Regret

The movie Jaws is undisputed as the first “blockbuster” and its reputation, despite dated special FX, is firmly in place, playing all over basic cable and streaming services every summer. When I was a kid my brother and I watched the movie on our tiny little black & white TV that sat on a rickety little stand in between our two beds. We often pretended the floor was the ocean water and jump back and forth trying to avoid the great white shark, waiting down there to eat us whole. I’m sure it drove our mom nuts.  But what makes Peter Benchley’s book mandatory reading?      The novel grew out of Benchley's interest in shark attacks after he learned about the exploits of shark fisherman Frank Mundus in 1964. Doubleday commissioned him to write the novel in 1971, a period when Benchley worked as a freelance journalist. Through a marketing campaign orchestrated by Doubleday and paperback publisher Bantam, Jaws was incorporated into many book sales clubs catalogues and attracted media
